Jennifer and Travis

JennandTravis TravisandJenn

Some time ago, I decided I wanted to share my time with a special little person and wanted to be a Big Sister to a Little Brother. Yes, a cross gender match! As a woman, most of us has a natural maternal instinct, but my friendship with Travis has nothing to do with maternal instinct but a desire to help make a difference in one person's life. Little did I know the impact our relationship would have on each other.

Imagine my surprise when over time, I learned that as much as I was giving to Travis he was giving to me. I have come to adore my Little Brother and cherish the time we have together. We play, laugh and have so much fun together doing anything that our hearts desire. It is so much fun to share time with him and in return we have grown to become a true Big and Little. I delight in sharing stories and activities with him. This is a long term relationship that I take very serviously. I know that the agency considers my time "volunteer", I consider it a commitment of friendship! I encourage anyone thinking about becoming a Big to either a boy or girl to do so knowing that it's about giving of yourself so that you can help be a part of a very deserving child's life. It is by far the most rewarding experience of my life! I am grateful and thankful to Big Brothers for matching us!
